Can't use controls in TinyMCE or MOStlyCE editor PDF Print E-mail

I have had this problem with both Mambo and Joomla:

When I tried to use the MOStlyCE editor (in Mambo) or the TinyMCE editor (in Joomla!), I could not use any of the controls that brought up a secondary window or dialog box, such as the HTML editing window, or "link" dialogue box.  For example, if I clicked on the "link" button, a blank, uneditable window would pop up with  {$lang_insert_link_title] at the top.  I would get similar results if I clicked on the HTML button.  I was using Firefox 1.5.

Problem:

After a bit of searching I finally found a forum post that suggested that this problem can happen when your "Livesite" website address does not have "www" in it.

  • Go to the 'Server' tab of the Global Configuration and check 'Live Site' value.  If it does not have "www" in it, this could be the cause of the problem
  • For example:  'Livesite' may be http://example.com when it should be  http://www.example.com

 Solution:

Edit your config.php file (main Joomla!/Mambo folder) and change the "mosConfig_live_site" value to have www:

$mosConfig_live_site = 'http://www.example.com';
